Were button fly jeans ever popular. Because, I recently (in the last 4 months) bought a pair of pants with buttons instead of a zipper. Who wants to unbutton 5 buttons which takes on average 16 seconds, when they can unzipper in .0275 seconds. The point of the whole fly thing is to allow you to go to the bathroom and so you can put your pants on and take them off. For both men and women buttons slow this process down. Especially when you really have to go to the bathroom buttons don’t let you get to the point when you can go nearly as fast as zippers. Zippers were around for a long time before button jeans, was this marketing gone awry? Is there a reason this did not fail right away? What are the benefits of the button fly. I’ve worn mine 3 times and still do not know. Anyone?

I have a pair of zipper jeans where for some reason they will unzip themselves occasionally. Really. Even if this only happens once, I think it is worth the 5 seconds (not 16) it takes to unbutton.
