Republirant

So all this misinformation spread by Repulicans about healthcare and socialism makes me think-politics has become the WWE.  For example instead of having a debate on the issue that over 46 million Americans are uninsured and in 3 years a monthly payment for insurance for an indivdiaul has gone from $350 to $900, they say talking about death with your doctor is unAmerican and will have others making decisions about your death.   They spread rumors like Obama is going to brainwash our kids to his socialist ways if he addresses them.  Anyone know what the Republican Healthcare plan is????

Oh-it’s OK as it is, as long as I have healthcare.  A discussion has begun, but politics and stupidity is getting in the way.  Everyone deserves to have healthcare that is affordable, even if they are stupid.  I am starting to believe that the people who elected George Bush are more stupid than I thought.  Chaney is also no better.  The dialogue should continue and everyone should get healthcare!!!

everybody cut

Not that I have watched the whole movie, but I can’t believe it took me 25 years to see it, and I can’t believe how bad footloose is.  Saw pars of it on cable tonight.

The answers are no.

The questions

Can Kevin Bacon Dance?

Is there a plot?

Did people every buy this story?

In this not disjointed?

Were kids ever like this?

Could a movie look more dated?

Do people actually really fight at a dance, win 2 on 5 fights, knock the 5 out and then just leave them there and go back to the dance?

The answers are yes

The questions

Did they purposely pick the ugliest cast ever?

Was this the worst soundtrack ever?

Was this the dumbest movie ever?

Did this really become a play?

Did Kevin Bacon’s career survive?

Did someone actually get paid to write this?

Do women (who are the reverends daughter) get beat up by their boyfriend and not report it to the police and then just walk around with bruises on their face?  (unfortunately the answer to this is yes).

People who don’t signal (ie everyone in Boston)

emails that just say “thank you”

Signs that are not big enough to read, especially bill boards

People who don’t take yard sales signs down after their yard sale is over

Jews in Sports

When have we ever had such abundance of Jewish professional athletes in Boston and they are all good.   Casey Kotchman, Kevin Yokilis and now Edelman from the patriots.  I love Edelman, because I don’t even know if he is Jewish, but I also did not know that he was on the Patriots.  He seems to play a position we have covered with Wes Welker, he also looks like him and plays like him.  But we have Edelman.  If he becomes great we can say things like Montana to Rice, and Brady to Edelman or Rice, Rashad, Moss and Edelman.

The possibilities are endless!

The Yankee Years Review-it sucks

The authors don’t even have the integrity to proof read it or have someone who is a baseball fan proofread it.  On page 212 talking about game 7 of the 2003 ALCS, it says Nick Johnson hit a double off the green monster.  I should not even have to tell anyone of the error in this.  Especially in the context of this book and when 2 pages before they are talking about how the World Series logo is being painted on the grass at fenway.

In addition, Joe Torre did not write this book, he is quoted in this book.  The book is not in the first person and the mistake mentioned above makes me wonder about all the facts in the book.  Also, Torre seems very upset in 2003 when David Wells did not even read the book he supposedly wrote.  Lump Verducci and Torre in with Ben Mezrich and the guy from Oprah and there is no integrity in writing anymore.

2 words–Ar chilles

I was in a bar tonight eating dinner with Courtney and the Red Sox game was on.  (this is OK Dave) and Youkilis charged the mound.  All of a sudden this drunk guy popped up next to me yelling at the TV.  He said, “Baseball players do not know how to fight.  They need me out there.  I used to play hockey.”  He went on for 20 minutes about how pathetic Youkilis was in a fight and how in hockey goalies used to fight before everyone became sissies.  And how he played hockey and the red sox really needed him in that fight.  He also sold me Pedroia is the only one on the sox he would want on his side during a fight.  He also said they really needed Brad Mills in the middle of the pile.

Most exciting Red Sox game this year.

WBCN

On Thursday August 13, WBCN will become an all sports radio station.  Though it has not been a good station in about 12-15 years.  BCN was THE Boston radio- station that we all grew up with and was awesome in my youth. Amanda interned there and played softball for the Ball Busters coached by Tank.  She batted against Tom Scholtz of Boston, was ranked on by Mark Parenteau and Sam Kinison in better days for both of them.

We used to look forward to the Big Matress and Mishigas, Ken Sheltons Lunch time and fake song.  Tami Heidi, Carter Allen, Oedipus (although I never really liked him).  and eve Nic Carter.  They were great.  While it is very sad, we proably should have been sad 15 years ago, when they became just like everyone else.  Bringing all the old DJs back and replaying old programming makes me remember how cool radio used to be.

After listening for 2 days, I remember listening to radio because of the DJ no matter what they played.  I used to stay up late listening to radio, just to hear what the dj said.  Also when DJs are allowed to pick their own music, the music is much better.  Today they played Billy Bragg, Roadrunner by Jonathan Richman 3 times, Sun Volt, etc.  Much cooler stuff then when they are programmed.  It is truly sad, but radio really died long ago.  In 1981 the Kinks released around the dial, who knew it would be so profound in 2009.

Shaq

Shaq won four titles, probably did not live up to his potential, played for way too many teams for a true superstar, but he is brilliant.  I don’t think there ever has been an athlete that set himself up for things to do in retirement as much as Shaq. Shaq vs. is the most brilliant idea ever.  He takes on other athletes in their sport.  He is keeping himself in the public eye constantly for the transition into broadcasting.

goodbye Red Sox

No one can ever take away the feeling of having a lifetime of losing lifted like it was in 2004, but I am now on a red sox moratorium.  It will be a long time before I care or spend money on anything related to baseball for a long time.  I would rather have not won the world series.  I just put all my Red Sox stuff in a box, they are dead to me.

after the final rose

So our basketball game did not go late enough again and I was once again subjected to the final bachelorette episode.  It was actually repeated the next night and then the after the final rose show is on dvr on wed.  Problems with this show.  The bachelorette is ugly 70% of the time pretty 10% of the time and I don’t know 20% of the time.

Also, I think the best result of this show is to come in 2nd.  Because, you are instantly a single celebrity who women have a reason to feel sorry for you.  Also, if you want to you get your own show where you get to have sex with 15 different women, you can have it.

If you get married off this show, what do you tell your kids when the watch you making out with another guy on TV the day before you got engaged to his/her father???
